"As always with sites such as this, I leave having had a good look around, but without really gaining any extra insight into self-injury. I've been self-mutilating with razor blades for nearly seventeen years now (I started in September 1990 when I was just 17) and I've yet to find someone who can explain just why I do what I do. There are some interesting pages here, particularly the section on the effect of seeing blood and why it plays a part, but I'm still none the wiser as to my own reasons for this behaviour or why I can't break the habit. Having bookmarked this site I will be back in the hope that I can gain some insight into my condition (at least while I'm waiting my turn for therapy - bloody NHS waiting lists) but I think I'm too far gone for this site to be of any real benefit to me."

"What a helpful site. I can not begin to tell you how much this site helped me. I use this site as one of the first places I turn to when I go through a period of possible relapse back into self harming. I truly appreciate a place that makes me feel so normal during a time when I am starting to let myself feel so abnormal."

"Thanks for your site, it has really helped me feel normal for once. It's good to know there's other people out there that feel the same as me."

"You tackled a really difficult subject in a way that was not shaming. I really appreciate that. Thank you for creating this space."

"I am glad I found this site here, I think it may be helpful to me. I am glad there are people out in the world that care and will not judge. I like that you have a message board for people to write and share with each other too. I also feel embarrassed about that I pick at myself and that I have scars that need to be fixed, I am glad that there are places that will not judge you on that also. I know sometimes its hard to believe when you are not feeling so good sometimes."

"I want to commend you on your amazing website!  What a wonderful resource for people who are self-injuring, their loved ones, and practitioners.  It is the most comprehensive source of information I have come across thus far."

"I am a student mental health nurse currently working in child and family mental health. I felt compelled to congratulate you on an excellent website. Without resources such as this these children would be lost. Congratulations on your good work, long may it continue."

"I'd just like to say how helpful I found your site. I've been self harming for about 5 years now and log onto your site when I'm feeling really down. It has helped me sort my head out loads of times. Thanks."

"I just wanted to say what a fantastic site. I have been visiting this site on and off for two years now and I can not tell you how much it has helped me. It is the first place I turn to when I go through a period of possible relapse back into self harming. It is a place that makes me feel so normal during a time when I am starting to let myself feel so abnormal. This feels like not just a website but a community, that is so welcoming and so vitally needed. Thank you again."
